Is my child the right age to attend?
The Full Summer School workshops have been designed for dedicated dance students from 8 years upwards. Classes will be based on age groups (junior, intermediate and senior). The Junior Summer School Experience is for dance students aged 6 and 7 years of age.

What is the Junior Summer School Experience?
In 2020, a new programme just for juniors aged 6 and 7 years of age will run each day from 8:15-9:30am. From Monday to Thursday, students will work with a different Summer School tutor each day in their respective dance style. On Friday, students will rehearse their small dance combinations with the tutors and then be part of the Pizza Lunch and Showcase event on the Friday afternoon (1:45-4:30pm) to present what they have learnt. This is a wonderful opportunity for our young dancers to be part of the Summer School experience for a fraction of the cost. The Junior Summer School Experience is $100 and this must be paid in full by 6 January 2020. There are only 15 places available in the Junior Summer School Experience.

What level of experience is required?
To gain the most from the Summer School classes, students should be currently enrolled at a dance studio where they take weekly dance classes.

What if a dancer doesn't tap?
Given the very specific technical skills required to participate in a tap workshop of this level, only students who currently learn tap at a dance studio are able to participate in the tap classes. Students who do not study tap will be offered an alternative class in lieu. Students are able to participate in all other classes regardless of prior experience with that particular genre.

Where is the event being held?
The Summer School is being held at The Rockhampton Grammar School's professional dance studios. The fully air-conditioned studios have sprung dance floors, full-length mirrors, barres, professional sound systems and are all located in one modern building within the main campus of The Rockhampton Grammar School.

What are the start and finish times?
The Junior Summer School Experience runs Monday to Friday from 8:15-9:30am and also from 1:45-4:30pm on Friday. The Full Summer School runs Monday to Thursday from 8:30-4:00pm and from 9:00-4:30pm on Friday. A detailed schedule of classes, including break times will be emailed to participants in the lead up to the Summer School.

What are the supervision arrangements?
Your child will be fully supervised during classes by the dance tutors and during breaks by staff of The Rockhampton Grammar School. Dancers are required to stay on campus at The Rockhampton Grammar School for the duration of the Summer School day and must sign in and out each day. Parents must drop off and collect the Junior Summer School Experience students each day at the respective times.

What are the food/drink arrangements?
Dancers attending the full Summer School must bring adequate food each day (morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea). All dancers must bring their own named water bottle each day which can be refilled as needed on site.

Will I be able to see what the students have worked on during the Summer School?
Yes, students will present a Showcase on the final day in The Rockhampton Grammar School Theatre.

What attire is acceptable?
Appropriate dance shoes must be worn for each genre. Sneakers are not appropriate for use on the professional sprung floors. Tap shoes are essential if participating in tap classes. Students are required to wear suitable dance and active wear. Crop tops should be covered with singlets or over-shirts. Hair should be off the face.

When should I get my ticket?
You should get your tickets ASAP! There are only a limited number of tickets available and with such an impressive line-up of tutors, the event is likely to sell out quickly. Tickets are on sale until 6 January 2020 unless sold out earlier. Don't miss out on the amazing Early Bird Price of $410 for the Full Summer School. Book your tickets by 14 October 2019 to save money!
