Golf is a social game played on Monday afternoons in Term 2 and Term 3 at the Rockhampton Golf Club. Golfers can compete locally in district competitions if a member of one of the affiliated clubs in Central Queensland. Golfers can nominate for the Capricornia Team 19 and Under and 12 and Under if they have a recognised club handicap.
Two interschool competitions are held each year. The first competition is played at the Rockhampton Golf Club on Monday, 24 February, with a 7am hit off. The second competition is at the Yeppoon Golf Club in October at a date to be advised. This is also a 7am hit-off and an RGS School bus will be booked to provide transport if required. Both games will aggregate in a Best Overall School in Primary and Secondary for a perpetual trophy.
Golfers are encouraged to become members of Rockhampton Golf Club. Over 13 years membership is $150 and Under 13 is $75. If not a member then social fees have to be paid for 9 holes of golf each day of $5.
Lockers can be purchased through Rockhampton Golf Club. These lockers are to put clothes and of course your golf clubs into, which can be locked by purchasing a lock for your locker.
Where to meet
The meeting area to catch the bus is on the bench next to the roundabout at the entrance to the school. The time to meet is straight after school for the departure of the bus from 3:20pm.
Primary players and younger players will need a minimum of 1 parent or guardian to overlook the group of up to 4 players. The parent/guardian will need to also obtain a blue card to be able to supervise or help out with the younger players. The blue card can be obtained through the school.
Pick Up times
The game will be held on a Monday at the Rockhampton Golf Club. For parents/guardians it will commence at 3.30pm sharp and will finish at 5pm so that 9 holes of golf can be fitted in.
