Primary School welcomes 2019 Student Leaders and House Captains

27th Mar 2019

The Rockhampton Grammar Primary School has a long tradition of welcoming Student Leaders.

In 2019 the Primary School Student Leaders are: Taylor Brock, Lily Cooling, Riley McDonald, Lola Muir, Josh Peckett, Ava Roche, Toby Rowland and Alessandra Williams.

The position is an honour for each student and it also comes with the responsibility of being a role model for the School. This includes behaviour, dress standards, sportsmanship and striving for academic growth.

While they will fulfil official roles throughout the year, the group also provides a student voice to the Head of Primary Mr Geoff Hadwen.

Here is some further insight into the 2019 Student Leaders:

Taylor Brock – Taylor started at RGS in Prep and has two brothers at the School, Seton (Year 4) and Zander (Year 2). Outside of school Taylor enjoys swimming, netball and running.

“I love being at RGS because there are amazing teachers that help you through the tough times. I also like being at RGS because I have many friends that I can rely on.”

Lily Cooling – Lily joined RGS in Year 2. Her sister Genavieve is in Year 11 and her three brothers (Austen, 2018), Josh (2015) and Harrison (2015) have all graduated from RGS. You will also see Lily on stage with a love of dancing and singing while she also enjoys netball.

“I love this school because the teachers and students here are so nice and considerate. I also love all the co-curricular activities that Grammar has to offer.”

Riley McDonald – Riley has loved RGS since Prep and has a younger sister Libby (Year 5) also at the School. Outside of the classroom Riley loves playing sport, including cricket and soccer.

“I love Grammar because it is a great community to be a part of and everyone is friendly.”

Lola Muir – Lola also started at RGS in Prep and has two older brothers in the Secondary School, Wesley (Year 12) and Oliver (Year 8). Lola loves a variety of activities outside of school including horse riding, cricket, drama, piano, tennis and soccer.

“I love being at RGS because I know that everybody here is a great person and I know that everybody can help someone no matter what it is. I also love it here because everyone is a trustworthy person. The teachers are also very kind and caring. They would help anyone out and so would the students. I would never had wished to go to another school!”

Josh Peckett – Josh started at RGS in Prep, just like his older sister Brooke (Year 8). When school’s out Josh loves playing rugby league.

“I love being at RGS because I have a good relationship with my teachers and with my friends.”

Ava Roche – Ava arrived at RGS in Year 3 from the UK and has a younger brother Edward in Year 3. Ava enjoys netball, piano and dancing – a lot!

“I have loved my time here at Grammar so far. Everyone at this school is so lovely, from the teachers to the students to the cleaners and all of the facilities are great. I absolutely cannot wait to continue my adventure at Grammar by being your student leader.”

Toby Rowland – Toby has been part of the RGS family since Prep and has a younger sister Ruby (Year 4). Toby enjoys sport and music, from soccer and tennis to playing the saxophone and piano.

“I love being at RGS because of the co-curricular activities and wonderful teachers. I also love having fun with my friends and learning about new things.”

Alessandra Williams – Alessandra was welcomed to RGS in Year 2 and her older sister Bridgette is now in Year 8. Alessandra loves music, swimming and gymnastics.

“I love being at RGS because there are so many opportunities given and all the teachers are very supportive.”
