Academics

The Rockhampton Grammar School has long held an excellent academic reputation and consistently earns the best overall results among schools in the Central Queensland region. These results are not based on luck but draw on a strong academic foundation, tailored programs and dedicated teachers.

As an inclusive, non-selective school, we work to ensure that every student has a valid academic pathway that leads to tertiary education or their chosen career.”Ms Reniece Carter, Head of Secondary School (Academics)

At The Rockhampton Grammar School, we offer academic programmes that are innovative and challenging across all year levels. Primarily based on the Australian Curriculum and Marzano’s New Taxonomy, the School’s learning framework is specifically tailored to meet the needs and goals of each child. Through this, our intention is to instil higher-order thinking processes and a dedication to lifelong learning. The RGS curriculum offers its learners a balanced and broad education that leads them from Prep all the way to the post-school pathway of their choice.

Primary Curriculum

Students in the primary school work closely with their classroom teacher to develop concepts and understanding across a range of core subjects such as english, mathematics, science, history and geography. Specialist teachers then provide in-depth knowledge in subject areas such as art, physical education, cooking, music, STEAM and Japanese.

Our curriculum delivers intellectually challenging learning experiences as students move through the primary years.
