Dance Scholarships

Dance Scholarships are available to new students entering Years 7 to 11 who currently perform at a high level.

2025 Dance Scholarships

2025 Dance Scholarship applications are now closed. 

The Rockhampton Grammar School has a small number of Dance Scholarships available for students who are wishing to excel in their performing arts training. These scholarships are designed to recognise and celebrate exceptional talent and a commendable work ethic. Students are invited to apply for a scholarship and may be offered an audition based on their achievements at local, state or national level in conjunction with their previous examination results. The scholarships are offered based on the applicant's audition performance and previous achievements, as well as evidence of their good record of academic performance, behaviour and effort.

Eligibility

To be eligible to apply for a Dance Scholarship at RGS, applicants must: 

  • Be entering Years 7 to 11 in 2025; 
  • Be a new enrolment to the School;
  • Have demonstrated commitment to, and strength in, dance in one or more genres;
  • Have a record of good academic performance, behaviour and effort;
  • Be an Australian or New Zealand citizen or holder of an Australian Permanent Residence Visa.
How to Apply
Step One

Applicants are required to complete an RGS Scholarship application form, including uploading supporting documentation (outlined below).

Step Two

Selected candidates will receive an invitation to audition. The Head of DMTA will contact families to share additional information about the audition process and coordinate a convenient time.

Step Three

Shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend an interview with the Headmaster. Unsuccessful applicants will be advised. 

Step Four

If a Scholarship offer is accepted, an RGS Application for Admission must be completed.

Supporting Documents

The following supporting documents are required when submitting an RGS Scholarship application form:

  • Last three Semester school reports
  • Latest NAPLAN report
  • A letter of application (single-sided, A4) from the student addressed to the Headmaster, Dr Phillip Moulds. Applicants are encouraged to provide evidence in their application letter of their dance achievements, leadership skills and their desire to engage with school life at RGS.
  • Two written referees' reports outlining the applicant's suitability for a Dance Scholarship. Referee reports should be from a dance or school teacher. 
Value

Successful students will be awarded a Scholarship ranging from 25% - 75%, applicable to tuition fees, and where applicable, boarding fees. The Scholarship does not apply to any other School fees, including levies, uniforms, textbooks and supplies, co-curricular costs, excursions, camps etc.

Scholarships are awarded at the discretion of the Headmaster.
